John Ashcroft Endorses Ann Wagner for Congress

Ballwin – Ann Wagner’s campaign today announced the endorsement of John Ashcroft. The full text of the endorsement is below.

“Ann Wagner is my choice to be the next Congresswoman for the 2nd District. Ann has earned my wholehearted endorsement and is my long-time friend, colleague, and a trusted, pro-life conservative. I’ve had the distinct privilege of knowing and working with Ann and Ray Wagner for more than two decades.I’ve seen firsthand their dedication and loyalty to America, their commitment to community, and their strong faith in God.I admire their love and devotion for each other and their family. Watching their oldest son, Raymond, grow from a young child to a West Point graduate preparing to defend this country is something I find inspiring.

“We need strong conservative leadership in Washington and Ann fits the bill. She has been an outspoken critic of liberal Democrats and their failed policies for years, such as when they jammed the government takeover of healthcare through Congress against the will of the American people.

“Ann is 100% pro-life. She has never wavered from her pro-life conviction.

“Ann is pro-traditional marriage, and we can count on her to support that concept governmentally.

“I know Ann is a staunch defender of our individual rights guaranteed by the 2nd Amendment; and she opposes amnesty for those who have broken our laws by entering this country illegally.

“For years, Ann walked neighborhoods, made phone calls and rolled up her sleeves for countless conservative candidates, including my campaigns. Now it’s time for conservatives to be there for Ann as she runs for office for the first time. Ann has been in this fight for a long time, from the grassroots on up. She spent nine years as Lafayette Township Committeewoman, carrying the conservative flag from house to house and voter to voter.

“Ann is a proven winner. As Missouri Republican Party Chairman, she led the charge to return control of the Missouri legislature to Republicans for the first time in 50 years and to elect a Republican governor. She campaigned vigorously for members of the United States Senate and House who are proven leaders on conservative issues.

“Ann is not afraid to fight the status quo and buck the establishment when those in charge lose their way.This was demonstrated in her courageous campaign for chairman of the RNC, which I had the privilege of supporting. She challenged the establishment to reinforce conservative principles.

“Ann Wagner is a strong conservative. We can trust her to fight for our traditional, conservative values in Washington. These are challenging times. We need to send to Washington a strong, effective conservative, proven leader who can get the job done for Missouri families.”

John Ashcroft served as Attorney General under President George W. Bush from 2001 until 2005. Mr. Ashcroft previously served as the 50th Governor of Missouri and United States Senator from Missouri.

Ann grew up, attended school, worked, raised her family and currently lives in Missouri’s 2nd Congressional District. Last week Ann announced the endorsement of New Jersey Governor Chris Christie who called Ann “the real deal."
