StChasLeaderSt. Charles – This week local leaders hosted a luncheon for Ann Wagner in her campaign to serve Missouri’s Second Congressional district at Pio’s Restaurant in St. Charles.

Owner Ernie Dempsey welcomed the full crowd of officials, business leaders and grassroots activists.  St. Charles County Executive Steve Ehlmann started things off regaling the long history of taking on tough fights together with Ann Wagner.

“I have known Ann for nearly 20 years and I have always known her as an effective leader. Whether it was building up a party at the grassroots level, winning statewide offices, or retaking the legislature, Ann Wagner has been leading the fight for Missouri’s conservative values.” Ehlmann said in his long working relationship with Wagner he knows St. Charles County has been critically important to her because it is a huge part of Republican statewide success.

“When Ann gets elected there’s no doubt she’ll represent us well, because Ann has been working with St. Charles for years.”

St. Charles Mayor Sally Faith also spoke on Wagner’s behalf to the crowd and highlighted Wagner's background in the business community as the daughter and granddaughter of small business entrepreneurs in St. Louis County and later work at Hallmark Cards and Ralston Purina.

“Ann is going to be a great voice for us because she is a strong and proven leader at all levels. When she wants to see something changed she weighs right in herself and is not going to be intimidated by anyone no matter what the situation. ”

Next, former State Senator Chuck Gross addressed the crowd and said supporting Wagner was simple because it came down to two things that have always been consistent with Ann over their 20 years of working together.

“One– Ann is a conservative and that has never changed over the years and two – Ann is a tenacious fighter.” Gross added, “Ann Wagner has made a real difference fighting the left and rebuilding the Republican Party at the local, state, and national level.”

Wagner was then introduced and greeted the supportive crowd.  She spoke about learning the value of hard work from her parents and grandparents and the deep roots they have in the region. Wagner also pointed out what Missouri’s Second Congressional District means to her personally.

“I was born here, raised here, worked here, and we have always called the second congressional district home. I served as Lafayette Township Committeewoman for nine years because as a young couple with a young family Ray and I thought it was important we stand up for what we believe in - that our conservative values be protected now and for future generations. I believe those same conservative values are important today and are part of what we should consider America's exceptionalism."

Ann and her family currently live in Missouri’s 2nd Congressional District.

This is her first bid for state or federal office, but with over 20 years experience fighting for conservatives Ann has become one of the most widely watched candidates in the country.
