"The Obama Administration’s most recent assault on religious liberty is unconscionable. It demonstrates their dangerous ideological agenda, arrogance, and an outright assault on our personal freedoms in just the latest of a litany of out-of-touch policies. From healthcare, to energy, to burdensome regulations and skyrocketing debt, we are witnessing the single biggest assault on American liberty in our history. By forcing religious organizations to take actions directly contrary to their doctrinal views, the Obama administration is violating the right to religious expression guaranteed by the 1st Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. The HHS mandate is a further attempt to undo the fabric of our society that is rooted in our nation’s founding and which rests on self-evident truths. I am grateful for the Catholic Bishops and other religious leaders for taking a strong and vocal stand against this capricious decision. I truly hope members of congress and state leaders, regardless of party, will unite and oppose this effort on behalf of all Americans, our founding principles and our guaranteed freedoms." |
